Women’s Health in Corona, CA
Women are more likely than men to have a symptom attributed to stress. More likely to be told a pain is normal. More likely to leave an appointment without an answer, and more likely to stop bringing it up.
That is not a slogan. It is one of the better-documented patterns in medicine, and it is the reason this page exists.
At Rosewood Medical, Dr. Laura Nieves cares for women 18 and older as part of a full internal medicine practice. That matters: your reproductive health gets looked at alongside your heart, your thyroid, your bones and your mood — not filed away as a separate subject.
Why the annual visit matters more than it seems
The well-woman exam is the single appointment most likely to catch something while it is still small. Blood pressure. Cholesterol. Thyroid function. Anemia, which is common and quietly exhausting. Bone health as you get older. Screening recommendations that change by decade, and that almost nobody tracks on their own.
It is also the one visit built around asking rather than treating. What has changed. What has been bothering you. What you have been putting off because it seemed too small to mention.
Most of the things worth catching early do not announce themselves. They show up as a number on a page, or in an answer to a question nobody asked.
What we cover
Well-woman exams. A complete look at your health, not just reproductive health — heart, thyroid, bones, mood, energy.
Pap tests and cervical cancer screening. At the interval that fits your age and history, explained rather than just scheduled.
Breast health and mammogram referrals. Knowing when yours is due, where to go, and what the result actually means.
Bone health. Osteoporosis risk and screening — the thing most women hear about only after a fracture.
Thyroid, anemia and fatigue. Being tired for a year is not something to live with. It is something to investigate.
What we do not do here
We do not manage contraception, place IUDs, or prescribe hormone replacement therapy. If that is what you need, we will tell you straight and point you to the right specialist rather than keep you in the wrong office.
We would rather be clear about that up front than waste your appointment finding out.
The questions you were not going to ask
The ones about your body, your mood, your energy, or something that has felt off for a year. Ask them here. They are not too small, and they are not a bother.
Care in Spanish
Dr. Nieves is fluent in Spanish, and our front desk is bilingual. These are conversations about your body, in detail, with someone you may have just met — and doing that in a second language is harder than most people admit. With Dr. Nieves you can have the whole conversation in Spanish.
